Our Merlot is always sourced from the same small block on our Red Winery Vineyard in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. The 2017 Merlot is a great example of what this vineyard does best: aromatics. Violets are the first, most obvious aroma, but there’s definitely cocoa and cinnamon here, too. What a lovely, fresh expression of a variety that’s so often beaten into the shape of poor man’s cab. It’s aged predominantly in neutral oak barrels, so, what you smell and taste here is fruit and only fruit.
