The grapes for this Merlot came from the north hill of our Red Winery Road Vineyard, and were harvested on the 6th of October. Ten days later, it went to press without any extended maceration, and was sent to barrel for 20 months in 40 percent new French oak. It is 100% Merlot. The smell is at once delicate and intense – floral, spicy, red cherry --surprising character for a wine of such modest alcohol.
