The Hawkes Winery and Tasting Room The Hawkes Winery and Tasting Room is located in the heart of the Alexander Valley, right next to the Jimtown Store. Beginning in the Spring of 2006, the tasting room will be open every day, offering regular release Hawkes wines, handmade chocolate truffles, and small lots of reserve wine not available elsewhere. Also at the Tasting Room will be a rotating display of hundreds of rare teapots from around the world. The collection contains four centuries of art in ceramic, metal, and wood. From 18th Century Chinese to modern Swedish, the pots form a beautiful and surprising history of international design. The collection is evidence both of the unifying properties of the world's other great drink, and of the advancing dementia of patriarch Stephen Hawkes, the man responsible for assembling it.
The James Patrick House The James Patrick House is a four-bedroom Queen Anne Victorian built in 1874 by James Patrick and located on the modest grounds of the Hawkes Winery and Tasting Room. Mr. Patrick built and ran a store next to the house, eventually making this small settlement the heart of the Alexander Valley, and leaving Jimtown with his name. We are restoring this historic landmark and constructing a winery and tasting room consistent in their simple, functional architecture with the other surrounding buildings. Once fully restored, the house will be available to the public for small events and weekend getaways. |
